Laparoscopy

We were one of the first ObGyn centres in Chandrapur to introduce laparoscopic surgery and have over 30 years of experience in this field. We use imported laparoscopy equipment and instruments made in Germany by Karl Storz.

Advantages of Laparoscopic Surgery

  • Less pain: small incisions cause significantly less post-operative pain than open surgery.
  • Less bleeding: blood loss is minimal, so blood transfusion is rarely required.
  • Shorter hospital stay: most patients go home on the second or third day after surgery.
  • Faster recovery: most patients resume light activities within a week and full activity within 2–3 weeks.
  • Minimal scarring: incisions are 0.5–1 cm and heal with little visible scarring.
  • Lower infection risk: smaller wounds mean a lower risk of post-operative infection.

Laparoscopic Procedures Performed

  • Ovarian cyst removal (cystectomy).
  • Removal of uterine fibroids (myomectomy).
  • Diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis.
  • Surgery for ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside the uterus).
  • Tubectomy (permanent female sterilisation).
  • Reversal of tubectomy — fallopian tube reattachment for women wishing to restore fertility.
  • Laparoscopic diagnosis of infertility — assessing tubes, ovaries, and the uterus.
  • Hysteroscopy — examination and operative treatment of the inside of the uterus.
  • Removal of ectopic / early pregnancy (laparoscopic MTP).

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the hospital stay after laparoscopic surgery?

Most patients can go home on the second or third day after surgery. The exact duration depends on the procedure performed and your recovery, but it is significantly shorter than after open (traditional) surgery.

Will there be visible scars?

Laparoscopic surgery uses 2–3 very small incisions of 0.5–1 cm. These heal well and leave minimal, barely visible marks — quite different from the larger incision required for open surgery.

Is laparoscopic surgery safe?

Laparoscopic surgery is generally safer than equivalent open surgery, with lower blood loss, lower infection risk, and faster recovery. Our team has over 30 years of laparoscopic experience and uses Karl Storz instruments — the gold standard in minimally invasive surgery. As with any surgical procedure, our team will explain the specific risks and benefits before your operation.

When can I return to work or normal activities?

Most patients resume light daily activities within a week. Full activity, including returning to work, is usually possible within 2–3 weeks. More physically demanding work may take longer — your doctor will advise based on your individual procedure.

Can laparoscopy improve my chances of getting pregnant?

Yes. Laparoscopy can identify and treat conditions that cause infertility — such as endometriosis, blocked fallopian tubes, ovarian cysts, and pelvic adhesions. Treating these conditions often improves natural conception rates. See our Infertility page for more information.
